POSITION PURPOSE
The Developer is responsible for the application
development effort at Whitman College. This person also assists with
the support for the multimedia users on campus. This position collaborates
with other
members of Technology Services to provide an information technology
environment that is consistent with the goals of Whitman College and meets
the needs of faculty, staff, and students.

the Whitman College. This includes analysis, design and implementation of
middleware integration applications.

- Assist Manager, MDL with:
- managing the Multimedia Development Lab.
- serving as a resource for identifying and solving computer
related hardware and software problems relating to the use of multimedia.
- performing service calls and conducting training sessions
on the use and application of multimedia software and hardware.

- Participate in the preparation and dissemination of
information (e.g.
documentation, handouts, newsletter) regarding multimedia resources and
WCTS services. In particular, this person is
responsible for managing the publication of WhitBits, WCTS
newsletter. WhitBits is both printed and Web-based.

- Maintain professional contacts with other colleges,
associations, organizations and vendors concerning technology
services and equipment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Individuals must posses these knowledges, skills, and abilities or be able
to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential

- Requisite technical skills in:
- advanced programming and system analysis.

- Preferred skills include experience in multimedia
production in higher education environment, experience in student worker
supervision, experience in user services in higher education and
experience beyond the minimum requirement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree, two-year college degree plus
two years experience in relevant field, or four years experience in
relevant field.
- A minimum of two years experience in programming and systems
analysis, with a requisite level of technical expertise.
- Satisfactory clearance of background check required.
