POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Programmer/Analyst is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining enterprise application system. This position collaborates with other members of Technology Services to provide an information technology environment that is consistent with the goals of Whitman College and meets the needs of faculty, staff, and students.

  1. Participate in the development and maintenance for the enterprise applications. This includes analysis, design, programming, and usability study.

  1. Perform service calls for enterprise technology related problems on campus.

  1. Participate in the preparation and dissemination of information (e.g. documentation, handouts, newsletter) as well as user training.

  1. Maintain professional contacts with other colleges, associations, organizations and vendors concerning technology services and equipment.

Individuals must posses these knowledges, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities and to possess the necessary physical requirements with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the essential functions of the job.

  1. Requisite technical skills in:
    1. advanced programming and system analysis.
    2. working with relational database.
    3. Web application development.
  2. A proven understanding of IT security practices.
  3. Strong service orientation.
  4. Strong team orientation.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and harmonious working relationships with a variety of campus constituencies.
  6. A proven ability to make technical issues understandable and an ability to match technical opportunities to college goals.
  7. Preferred skills include experience in ERP support, Datatel/Envision programming, SQL query and report writing, Java web application development, ColdFusion, higher eduation enterprise computing environment, experience in user services in higher education and experience beyond the minimum requirement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. A bachelor's degree in relevant field, or five years experience in relevant field.
  2. A minimum of five years experience in programming and systems analysis, with a requisite level of technical expertise.
  3. Satisfactory clearance of background check required.
