POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Programmer Analyst is primarily responsible for designing,
developing
and maintaining complex record-keeping computer applications for
university administrative departments and for assisting administrative
offices with software and operating system problems. As a member of
Whitman College Technology Services (WCTS), this position collaborates
with other members of WCTS to provide an information technology
environment that is consistent with the goals of Whitman College and meets
the needs of faculty, staff, and students.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Designs, develops and implements administrative applications.
- Provides technical support to administrative offices of the college.
- Performs service calls for the administrative users as needed.
- Assists Director, Administrative Technology in:
- administering the operations and activities of the administrative
computing services.
- coordinating the development and implementation of administrative
computing plan for the college.
- providing assistance to departments and offices of the college with
technology-related issues.
- researching and recommending software and equipment solutions for
stated needs.
- Participates in
- the development of campus-wide information system.
- the planning, coordinating, designing, scheduling and conducting of
staff development seminars and institutional development projects.
- the preparation and dissemination of information (e.g. documentation,
handouts, newsletter) regarding WCTS services.
- Perform other essential duties and implementation of projects as
assigned.

- Requisite skills to maintain and support a administrative information
system for an educational institution.
- Requisite technical skills in advanced programming and systems
analysis.
- Requisite skills required for working with a relational database.

with a small college.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish
and maintain cooperative and harmonious working relationships with a

- A proven ability to make technical issues understandable and an
ability to match technical opportunities to college goals.
- Preferred qualifications include expertise with the Datatel system,
experience in applying quality management, experience in administering a
database, experience in administering a UNIX based system, and relevant
experience beyond the minimum requirement.
Minimum Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology,
management science, educational technology or other relevant field.
- A minimum of five years experience in advanced programming and
systems analysis, with a requisite level of technical expertise.
- Satisfactory clearance of background check required.
