Changing Your Password
In
order to provide a greater level of security to the Datatel system, we have
initiated a password aging policy that will take effect in a few months. The
new policy will require that Datatel users change their login password on a
frequent basis (every two months).
When
the time allocated for your current password expires you will be presented with
this message upon logging in to Datatel:

You
will have to click the OK Button and
you will be taken to the password change screen.

First - You will be prompted for your login password, you would enter
your current Datatel Password here and press enter.
Second - You will next be prompted for a new password – the new password
must meet the following conditions:
·
It must be between
6 and 8 characters long
·
It must be a
combination of Letters and Numbers
·
It must differ
from your old password (by at least three characters)
·
It must be
different from your login name
·
It should be esay for you to remember, difficult for others to guess
Finally - You will be asked to enter your new password once again to verify
it; it needs to be exactly the same both times. Once you press enter Datatel
will continue to log you into the system. You will not be able to change your
password again for 7 days, but you will need to change your password again in
60 days. Please do not write your password down or give it to another person.
UI Changes for r17
There
are a few minor changes to the User Interface (UI) in r17 that we would like to
make people aware of:
Tree view – The menu listed down the side, when you are in a screen is called the
tree. It has many uses, but can also take up valuable screen space.

To disable the tree
view, click the tree icon
on the menu bar. You will not be troubled with
the tree view until you toggle it on again with the tree icon.
Cancel All icon
- If
you have multiple screens open, you can use this to cancel from all of them and
return to the main menu.
Save All icon
- If
you have multiple screens open, you can use this to save all of them and return
to the main menu.
