Description:

The Colleague Budget Management module is designed to automate and expedite the budgeting process. It makes the task of entering and manipulating budget requests easier, and adds a management review process that facilitates the approval of the budget. Historical comparisons assist the budget officer throughout the budgeting process. Once a final budget is approved it may be rolled into the General Ledger automatically.

Purpose:

The Budget Management class provides users with the knowledge to make effective decisions regarding the implementation, and the information to train those involved in the budgeting process at various levels in the budget organization. In addition, a portion of this class will be devoted to issues of particular interest to the Colleague Administrator, including file structures, data flow, security provisions, and file management. Specifically, the class provides:

  • An overview of the relationship between the General Ledger and Budget Management modules
  • A thorough presentation of the specific capabilities of the Budget Management module
  • Hands-on experience using the Budget Management module

Audience:

  • Budget Administrators, Chief Business Officers, Controllers, and others with decision making responsibility
  • Computer center staff responsible for financial and accounting support

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of the Envision Terms and Concepts computer-based tutorial (if you use the character-based interface) or familiarity with the Guide to Colleague Interfaces (if you use one of the graphical user interfaces)
  • Knowledge of the chart of accounts structure
  • Review of the Implementation Approach Document
  • Review of current coding, billing and cashiering procedures

Course Length:

Two days - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
