Core Workshop

CORE Implementation Planning, Shared Information, and Data Standards

Instructor: Linda Kuenster

Description: Implementing and using an integrated information system requires cooperative planning to appropriately use shared data and develop data standards for our institution. This two-day workshop is designed to create a forum for discussion and a plan of action to make decisions for Colleague Core. Topics covered include: definition of Colleague Core and review of each of the Colleague sub-systems; exploration of the concepts of data standards and shared information; and suggestions and discussion of the best approach for building codes used throughout the system (Colleague Core Codes and Shared Codes). Specifically, the workshop objecctives are:

  • Understanding of Colleague Core's scope.
  • Developing meeting norms and an understanding of the Core Team's role in the Colleague implementation.
  • Documentation of all decisions made during the workshop.
  • Detailed compilation of implementation agenda items for Core Team action.
  • Detailed compilation of Core implementation issues, a plan of action and anticipated action "owner."
  • Outline for Institutional Data Standards & Procedure Guide.

Audience:

    Core Team
    At least two members of each application team if not already represented on the Core Team
    WCTS administrative technology staff
    A representative from faculty area.
