Date Awarded: Summer 19999

Description of Project:

Develop a web-based grammar course. The project concentrates on interactive exercises, using sound, images and animation of characters and sentences, to create a multimedia environment, where students can work at their own pace outside of class and receive prompt feedback. For a detailed description of the project, visit:

Process:

The interactive part of Pattern Practice Makes Perfect was technically challenging, and was furthered complicated by the incorporation of Chinese software to produce characters and Pinyin fonts. However, a framework for this on-line course was successfully developed with two completed units (Unit 1 & Unit 2), including key points, examples and interactive exercises, as well as Level 1 exercises for Unit 3 to 10. This is an ongoing project and eventually will include thirty units.
