Description of Projects
- Visiting Latin American
Countries: I will design lessons and Web pages on different countries, especially
the ones that our faculty visit with our overseas programs. Having professors
and instructors from six different Latin American countries in the Department
will make it easier to get original and interesting material to create different
units describing distinctive aspects of geography, history, culture and politics,
reflected in pictures, video, music, interviews with locals, newspaper and
magazine articles, etc. This material can be used not only by Spanish instructors,
but also by students who are interested in traveling abroad, the Overseas
Programs Office, Sociology, Anthropology and History courses, etc. I'm currently
designing the Dominican Republic Orientation Web page and I need more time
to finish with this project.
- Personal Web Page: I
am going to create my own Web Page in which I intend to include course curricula,
grammar handouts, exercises, assignments, links to other pages, such as, newspapers,
magazines, Universities in Latin American countries, etc. I will also use
it as a forum for discussions assigned in the lessons.
- First/Second-year Multimedia
Lessons: I will develop lessons related to material used in Beginning Spanish
following the chapters from the book Puentes. Content and design will be decided
according to the perceived need for grammar and curricular material.
- These lessons will be
developed in such a way that they can be used following the textbook organization,
or individually. This format will allow professors from other level courses
to use them too, even if they are not teaching with the same text book. One
central lesson will be created with xMediaEngine and linked to others and
to Web site links where students can find information related to the content.
