Name: Cecilia Benenati
INSTITUTION: Lewis and Clark College Language Area: Spanish Project Type: 1- Course Release/Sem. Fellowship $3,000 Project Titles: - Computer Based Pronunciation Practice Exercises - Personal Web Page
DURATION: Spring 2000 with probable extension for similar projects to Summer 2000. Brief Description of Projects - Computer Based Pronunciation Practice Exercises: I'm asking for more time to finish developing this project on pronunciation practice. Finding the required software to develop this kind of program took longer than what I had planned. After consulting with Beth, people from other schools in our consortium and CET, I had what I thought was the adequate program, HyperCard Stacks. I've finished almost two thirds of the project which consists of "Vowels", "Diphthongs & Triphthongs" and "Consonants". With these stacks, the students can listen to a native speaker pronounce a word or sentence, they can record their own version, and then compare with the original. They can go back and rerecord until they are satisfied with their performance. My two Spanish classes are already working with the program and they find it very helpful, and even fun. You can find the downloadable versions at:
HTTP: //www.lclark.edu/~benenati/pronunciationpractice.html - Personal Web Page: I'm almost done with the interactive exercises for the Grammar pages. I've added more fill-in-the-blank and pop up exercises. I'm also working on a combination of those with some listening.
HTTP: //www.lclark.edu/~benenati/gramatica.html Things to finish: # Links: I still have to create a page with links to newspapers, magazines, Universities in Latin American countries, etc. # I would like to develop more lessons like the one on Preterit vs. Imperfect.
