Project type: Summer
project
Type1:Travel grant
Project titles:
1. Peninsular Literature Photo Webpage Project
2. Continuation and Maintenance:
Duration: Summer 2000
Description of project: I have already used quite a few photos from my Spain 197 overseas study program for my "Fiestas de Sevilla" page, but I have many more that can be used to create supplementary material for the new course I will teach in the Fall, Survey of Peninsular Literature. I plan to use pictures of Moorish architecture, statues of figures such as Maimonides, landscapes of Castilla, etc. to create supplementary Web material for each author and literary period covered. The material will be useful for others in the department who use the same or similar material in literature, culture, or language courses, and will enhance my Spanish Prose and Written Expression course as well. I hope to more than just "put up" photos; I will create writing exercises and other activities to accompany each set of photographs. I will use tools I am already familiar with: Claris Homepage and photoscanning equipment. The pages will be accessible through our common bookmark file and my own academic page: http://www.lclark.edu/~woodrich.
I also will appreciate the summer project time to continue work on my ongoing projects, listed above, and to help coordinate the projects of my colleagues (use of the Workstation, individual training needs, liaison with IT, etc). I will help coordinate the work of our student assistants, as well.
Travel Fellowship: I hope to attend the CALICO 2000 conference in Tucson, Arizona. The theme this year is: "Core Technologies: Impact on the Future" and the dates are May 30-June 3, 2000. Here is a breakdown of expenses, as nearly as I can estimate them:
