A new version of the FINGER command has been installed on MARCUS; if you "finger" someone on MARCUS, you can learn all kinds of useful information about that account. For example, I fingered the account of Shannon Callister:

marcus% finger callissb

Shannon B. Callister (callissb)
Home: /files0/home/wccs/callissb
Shell: /bin/csh
Mail forwarded to callissb@wpoffice.whitman.edu.
Shannon B. Callister (callissb) is not presently logged in.

No plan.

One of the most useful features of the new finger is the ability to find users using only part of that user's first or last name. In the command shown below, finger will display information about all accounts on MARCUS that have "call" anywhere in their first, last or account name:

finger call

With the new version of finger, you can now control what information, if any, is displayed when someone fingers your account. To do this, you create a file on MARCUS in your home directory called .fingerrc that can configure the output from finger.
