WHITMAN TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES There are a large number of technology resources and facilities on campus that you will use throughout your time here. Occasionally we update lab hours to meet student needs, and we are always expanding the capabilities of our labs. For up-to-date information, check out the Technology Resources in the WCTS web pages. Computer Labs Olin Lab, 165 Olin Hall Maxey Lab, 107 Maxey Hall Penrose Library Multimedia Development Lab, Hunter 404 (The MDL) WCTS offers a number of workshops on using the multimedia equipment and software. Please check our web page or contact the multimedia lab at x4761 for more information. Special Use Labs Printing Black and white laser printing is available in all labs on campus free of charge. We are able to do this only if students print a single copy of their documents. There are a number of copy machines in the library for those students who need multiple copies of their printout. Whether you are using a PC or a Mac, several network printers are available for you. Always make sure you know where the print job is going before sending it if someone has reset the destination, your paper could show up in another building on campus! As you print on a networked printer, remember: print jobs have to travel over the network. Be patient. If your document still hasnt printed five minutes after you sent the command, ask a lab assistant for help. Sending a second print request will make things worse. And again, dont print multiple copies use a copier instead, thats what they are for. A color laser printer is available in Olin for $1.00 a page, a large-format inkjet printer (13 X 21 max) is available in Maxey Lab for 25-50 cents a page, and a large-format color plotter is available in Hunter 404 (inquire at the Multimedia Development Lab about use and price for the color plotter). Wireless Networks New this year! Wireless network connections in the Library, the Language Learning Center, the Olin Hall second floor student lounge, and the Reid Campus Center are based on the standard wireless protocol, IEEE 802.11b, and will work with any PC using this type of standard wireless card, or any Macintosh using an Apple Airport Card. IMS Instructional Multimedia Services in Hunter 202 is your one-stop-shop for all your multimedia gear needs. With your handy ID card, you can check out equipment like digital camcorders, digital still cameras, VCRs, projectors, and computers for presentations. Reserving stuff in advance is always a good idea! For more information, stop by the office or give us a call at x5257. |
