The Mac that will be doing the sharing:

From the Apple Menu, choose Control Panels > File Sharing

A. Enter an "owner name". Try and make it unobvious, but not impossible to remember.

B. Createa good Owner Password. Be as unobvious as possible. Intentionally mispell a word. Add numbers and/or !@#$%^&*() symbols. Make it at least 6 characters long.

C. Choose a Computer Name. Anything is fine, like "my Mac" or "File Sharer".

D. Click Start in the File Sharing area. If it already says "File Sharing is on", you don't need to do this (don't click Stop).

E. Check the box that says "Enable File Sharing Clients to connect over TCP/IP".

F. When the Start button has turned in to a Stop button, you can close the File Sharing Control Panel.
